Simple Hindu Wedding

Found this stunning video on the Over The Moon site from a wedding we were a part of in 2011.  It was a beautiful wedding at the LA River full of color on culture.   Below we have included some of our Instagram videos from the night as well.  I love to see the polished videoographer and photogrophers picutes then cut to our posts of the party getting wild.

HAUTE SOCIAL + Green Team = ZERO WASTE CO

The goal is to have as little as possible, if nothing, go to the land fill.  Sofia, from Zero Waste Co, believes that every event can be zero waste.

How the HUATE SOCIAL was zero waste:

  • Replaced paper towels in the bathrooms with cotton
  • Worked with vendors to make all trash compostable
  • Used unrecyclable material for event tickets (old glow sticks, bread ties and art log cards)
  • Used unrecyclable materials to make the photo booth decor (the inside of chip bags)
  • Worked with Boomtown to replace all trash cans with compostable trash bags
  • Replaced plastic drinking cups

Loving Environmentally Friendly Day Trips

Guest blogger and Zero Waste Co-owner Sofia Ratcovich shares one of her favorite secret destinations

Wine Glass.jpg

If you love to watch surfers dance with the ocean, explore tide pools or just want to take a relaxing walk along the water then you will love Topanga State Beach. The best part is The Reel Inn Malibu Restaurant right across the street which welcomes all the sweaty and salty patrons after a lovely day outdoors.  No pretentiousness at this celebrity hot-spot. Plus, you get to take home a set of these cute little glasses when you purchase a whole bottle of wine.

They LOVE everything about the beach as much as I do and they support community organizations in keeping it clean. They recently installed receptacles to encourage smokers to #HoldOnToYourButt andprevent those nasty cigarettes from polluting our streets and precious water. And finally, The Reel Inn saves all their corks so they get a second chance at life and can stay out of the landfill. Thanks to the Reel Inn Malibu for being so awesome and working with @ZeroWasteCo towards a world with #zerowaste.

Check out this wedding on Smitten Magazine

Thank you to Smitten Magazine for the instagram love and reminding us about this amazing Paradise Cove wedding.

Not only is Paradise Cove and an amazing gem of Malibu, it also provides the most stunning and romantic backdrop for a California wedding.  We had the pleasure of providing music and sound for the wedding now featured on Smitten Magazine blog.  Click here to visit the full article and get inspired.

The music, the food (and bourbon!) and amazing people and stunning environment of the Bluff at Paradise Cove turned out to be exactly as wonderful as we had envisioned it would be. The part I’d most like to share here is the moment I stole for myself in the middle of it all to take a look around and soak it all in. I gazed at the dance floor full of people enjoying themselves, felt the warmth of the bonfire and quilts, took in a deep breath of ocean air, and it was all just…perfect. It was the most perfect moment of my life.

Event Ideas : Poetry done cool

As inspired by...

...Lauren & August's amazingly beautiful wedding who's backdrop was the ever dreamy Palm Springs and its ancient cacti.

Venue...

...the historical Smoke Tree Ranch

Unique vendor...

Jacqueline Suskin and her Poem Store

It was so breathtaking to arrive at such a beautiful compound in the middle of Palm Springs.  As guests arrive, they were greeted with not only champagne (ps. despite what anyone says, this is a great way to start a wedding ceremony) and stunning cactus gardens, but also the romance of poetry.  Jacqueline sits at a wooden table with an old typewriter and a piece of paper.  Give her a subjest and she will create a memory for your guests to take home.

What makes this vendor unique?

Suskin is a natural beauty with a sense of style.  Along with giving your guests something to walk away with, she creates a beautiful scene, with the vintage typewriter and trinkets, which sets the mode.

Our Top 5 Favorite Venues of 2015

HMD is so lucky to have the opportunity to work at some of the most amazing spots around the world.  Here is a short list of some of our favorites venues we had the pleasure to work at in 2015.

1. Pioneer Town

2.  Marfa Texas

3. Los Angeles

The Millwick

4.  Santa Yenez

5. Los Angeles

RIP Marvin...but HELLO Millwick

This past week we had a chance to DJ at the new Millwick in downtown LA.  Not only is the soundsystem amazing the space is a dream.  I was first impressed by the indoor gardens.  There is literally a forest around the dance floor.  The event was Droga5's annual dinner honoring the top 50 creatives in the advertising industry.  My favorite #girlboss Sofia Amoruso was there amongst others top cats.  We have a wedding coming up there which I am excited about because the courtyard is perfect for a cozy ceremony.  The Millwick gets our thumbs up.
