I got schooled not only on Angelique Kidjo but also on the Talking Heads’ 1980 album “Remain in Light”. Angelique said that when she moved to Paris in the ’80s and heard the Talking Heads album for the first time (PS her stories of parties in Paris at this time is great), she was amazed at how the sound reminded her of music from her West African roots. She describes how the album has an undeniable beat that mimics west African music. It turns out she was right.

Michelle Kath Sinclair

Not only is Michelle a crazy talented DJ (who's music crats run deep), but also one of our founding members.  Her love for music began as a kid with recording mix tapes from the radio and giving them to friends.  In 2011 she started a music blog called "In The Boombox" where she posted her rare finds and favorite jams.  When HMD opened their doors in 2014 she transferred that blog to our "Music Blog" and got a crew of collaborators to contribute.  To compliment the site she also started the "Event Blog" to feature vendors we have worked with and lifestyle brands we love.  If you ask her what is her favortie thing about bloging she would tell you it come out of the pure love of sharing with the world and conencting people with something she believes to be awesome.
